The World in 2100?
February 24th 2010 04:54
Remember how you thought about the future back in the day? The future was bright because technology was growing so fast. Some people predicted there would be flying cars by the turn of the millennium. Others thought 2010 was the magic year. They were... slightly mistaken.
Flying Cars? Not here yet. Meals coming in pill forms? Not here yet. Self Tying shoe laces? Nope. So where will technology lead us in the next hundred years? Our generation has focused on personalized electronics. PCs, MacBooks, iPods, PSPs, they're all made for the personal use of one person. Why? Because there's more money in the business.
So here's my prediction. I probably won't be alive in 2100, so be sure to tell me how accurate I was, ok?
 Apple's Tablet
Microsoft releases a product to compete against the Tablet. But like the Zune, it loses.
Apple releases the first fully functional and affordable "Touch Desktop Computer".
December 2012: Nothing happens. A bunch of people end up looking like stupid idiots.
3D video chat is introduced by Skype.
The first ever 360 degree surround vision screen is released.
Nintendo releases the first console that utilizes the 360 degree screen
Stores such as restaurants are no longer record checks with paper. It's done by an electronic computer that is fitted into the table for all to use.
All movies are released in 3D.
 All computers are in 3D.
All video games are in 3D.
Paper Textbooks are no longer used in several private schools and elite public schools.
The military creates the first handheld weapon operated with electricity that is designed to kill a mass of people. So basically, it is a grenade that has to be plugged in to be recharged.
iTunes releases their online book collection. They now sell libraries of books like they do with music.
The first ever full-body video game is released by Microsoft. You put on a suit loaded with vibrating sensors. So when you get shot, you feel it. Completely harmless though...
An angry mother sues Microsoft. Her child was shot in the kidney and the suit did something funny. The mother wins $6,000,000
New York becomes the first state to stop using paper text books in all of their public schools.
Police have now fully replaced the pistol with the taser. The better taser. The ones that have 15 rounds with a re-loadable clip and an effective firing range of 150 yards.
Voting with paper ballots have been canceled. It's all about the electronic polls.
Somebody FINALLY goes out of their way to create self tying shoes. However, he goes bankrupt because people simply prefer slip on shoes.
Capital Punishment makes its return. They have now found a way to quickly, and painlessly, kill a convicted felon. It is also very cheap.
The President and Congress overrule capital punishment and it disappears for good... for now.
First person is born on the moon.
Every state in America has stopped using paper textbooks.
Scientists have now found a way to document what somebody is thinking! However, it requires lots of bulky cords and is very expensive.
The penny no longer exists. Too small of a currency
 $1 = $0.43 in 2010 time.
A major war breaks out. All technology is focused on weapon manufacturing.
A defense for nuclear weapons have been found. By lacing heated metals with particles of unstable uranium, a "shield" can be created. When a missile hits it, it explodes, but creates a large vacuum inside the shield. Naturally, all close matter enters the vacuum. All radioactive material is sucked in. The only question now is how to dispose of it... The defense tool was developed by the United Nations.
The war ends. Nobody could find a way past the defenses so the opposition surrendered. A peace treaty was signed.
There are 6 nations that have "states" or "provinces" on the moon.
The levitating board is created. However, it cannot thrust itself in any direction other that 6 inches off the ground and 2 mph forward.
A scientist creates a 5 pill formula that gives you all the nutrients you need. Eat them 3 times a day and you're fine.
People still buy food. The formula works... but people are hungry after only eating 5 pills every meal.
Crazy lunatic suggests black holes can be used as gateways to time travel. He gets locked up in a mental hospital.
The flying board is released. It can fly at a maximum height of 12 feet and can travel up to 65 mph in all directions. However, it costs $250,000,000 ($50,000,000 in 2010) so it doesn't sell very well. You must also get a license to ride it.
So those are my predictions. What are yours? Leave it in the comments below, I look forward to reading them!
